My indepth Neewer TL60 Review
Hello and welcome to my Neewer TL60 review and in my video review above I walk you through everything you need to know about the Neewer TL60 tube light and why I think this has to be the best sub $200.- tube light available today. So let’s look at it’s amazing feature list first.

All those specifications are great and don’t worry we will be diving into them in a bit more detail later on but for now lets have a look at the price…
Neewer TL60 Price
At the time of writing this Neewer TL60 review this tube light was retailing at just under $200.- which is a fantastic price but the good news doesn’t end there… The crazy part is with my Neewer discount code HAYES21 you get another 21% off that price bringing it down to around $158.- which is a pure steal for a tube light of this quality.
There are also massive deals to be had on Amazon and the Neewer website at times that drop 30% off the price so be sure to check both of their prices before you purchase and get the best deal possible.
If you purchase the Neewer TL60 via my affliate links or with my discount code I may make a slight commission but it doesn’t cost you anything in fact you can save money with my coupon code 🙂 So thanks for supporting my channel.
What’s in the box with the Neewer TL60
The Neewer TL60 comes packed in a very nice padded carry case (inside the box) which not only holds the light and accesories but also adds a nice layer of protection to the unit itself…
The following accessories are also included…
A Power adaptor and power cord, the light clip mounting bracket, a network cable for the DMX control and a hanging wire.
TL60 Power supply and charging
The Neewer TL60 has a battery life of 2 hours on full brightness thanks to its large 3,000 mah battery and it’s super easy to charge again of course via its dc power adaptor.
I have found the charging time to be roughly arround an hour and a half when the light is not being used and this brings us back to that power adaptor again and why Neewer didn’t go for USB charging and wouldn’t that have been a nicer system?
Well, yes of course it would and that is the only slight negative I can see in this light but wait let’s look at why they didn’t do that…
The reason is so you can use it while you are charging it via mains, the 20 volt mains adaptor has enough power to keep this light running all and also charge the battery at the same time.
Now when you consider this is a super bright 60cm tube light that negative just became a big positive.

With a 200-Watt output and over 500 full power flashes this strobe is a sure thing for your camera bag.
Neewer TL60 Build Quality
Now the first thing you will notice about the TL60 is the build quality and yes I know I am like a broken record talking about Neewer products and how they could easily sell for twice the price but it’s so very true. The build quality of this light is just great it really feels like a top quality product and something that could take a small bit of abuse while being carried around in its case, just don’t use it as a light saber ok 🙂
I have always liked Neewer products and I have been buying them for years now I currently have about 30 to 40 of their products scattered around my studio and they have always delivered for me and the price to performance ratio is staggeringly good, the super bright TL60 light wand is no exception to that either.
Check out my Neewer MS150C RGB video light review here or watch my review video if you prefer.
I walk you through the TL60’S more powerful bigger brother and all its features.
The MS150C has a 150 watt output and can be battery powered. It also has wirelesss control via the Neewer App
TL60 output power
Now, speaking of brightness the TL60 has a 20 watt output giving you 1,730 Lux @0.5m from a portable light with a two hour battery life that’s amazing.
I have used this light now for multiple purposes and it’s super bright and easy to use. It might not be bright enought for a key light depending on the scene but it functions perfectly as a fill light or background light.
One of my long term uses for this light will be to replace the two smaller rgb lights I have lighting up the background on my YouTube set.
Having just a single light and being able to again control it via the app is going to be great.
If you need more time or power from your light then I highly recommend you check out the Neewer MS150C video light review here as you can also power that via v-mount batteries and mains and yes it can be controlled via the app also.
Mounting the TL60 light tube.
So, what are the practicallitites of using this light? Well, it has two mounting options with the in built 1/4 inch mounting point built into the base of the light wand and you also have the light clip that simply clips over the tube and you can mount that bon a tripod mount again or a light stand also.
If you are using the light clip then you can also use the hanging wire and thread it through the light clip and hand the Light Tube from a support or horizontal pole etc…
Using it on a boom arm is again very easy then as the unit itself is lightweight and you can adjust it via the app so it’s great for uses like that. The long battery life helps a lot there as does the fast that the power adaptor has a good long cable on it. Overall this light is highly versatile and very easy to position.
Ease of use
Conclusion
The Neewer TL60 is a fantastic tube light, with plenty of power for most fill light and background lighting applications, with the 2 hour full power battery life then it really has to be the best sub $200 tube light you can buy today. I was blown away by how well built it was especially considering the crazy cheap price it’s selling for, it really shouldn’t be this good and it’s putting a lot on lights nearly twice its price.
In short this Neewer TL60 review conclusion is a massive thumbs up and this tube light is staying as part of my kit and there is no way it’s going back to ye Neewer, sorry, now but errr it went missing in the post 🙂
See you out there,
Kieran.
