DxO PureRaw 2 and 5 reasons why you should be using it today.
5 reasons to try Dxo PhotoRaw 2 today.
DxO PureRaw 2 is already very well known by most experienced photographers as they are usually looking to edit their photographs faster and with let’s be honest less effort. The crazy part here is DxO PureRaw 2 claims it can do this and also give you better results at the very same time. Can it really though or is this just another one of those claims…
If it’s true then I am already sold, literally nothing could possibly be better than that, ok maybe if it was free and we didn’t have to pay for it that might be better. Speaking of free I have a link below to give you a free trial if you want to check it out for 30 days and have a bash off it yourself.
In this short article I am going to give you 5 good reasons why you need to try it today and see for yourself what you’re missing.
DxO maintain everyone should be using this as the first port of call for editing their raw photographs no matter what editing software you are using and I can honestly see why they are making this bold claim…
1.- Retain Maximum Quality.
DxO PureRAW is designed for photographers with amazing noise reduction features like Prime and DeepPrime noise reducing algorithms designed to not only reduce noise but keep those minor detrails in your image sharp.
In my video below I compare it to Topaz Photo AI with a photograph taken at ISO 25,600 to see which one does a better job at not only reducing noisy but retaining detail also.
The results were fairly staggering and the more I look at the results the better a job I see PureRaw 2 did.
2.- Lens and Camera Profiles
The hidden trick up DxO’s sleeve has to be their Lens and camera profiles which are known to be second to non. They are all developed and tested in their own labs for their own software and that really does show. I have personally found the distortion correction to be utterly amazing on my ultra wide angle lenses. They also remove any defects that your lens and camera combo are known to have so that has to be a massive plus point again.
3.- Super Sharp images
Pop your raw file over to DxO PureRaw 2 and yes they come back with no noise, the lens correction have been applied but the sharpness is what really hits you.
In ways a photograph shot at ISO 25,600 on a 46mp camera not known for its high ISO performance had absolutely not right to comeback as sharp as it did.
Noise reduction usually comes at a cost but for there to be no cost, in fact you get a sharper photograph back is mind blowing.
Even on your normal photographs with little to no noise the sharpness it comes back with is scarily good.
So for sharpness DxO has not only got you covered but is pushing you and your work forward at speed.

4.- Batch Editing
With DxO PureRaw 2, you’re able to batch edit your images and while PureRaw 2 is working away on them you can continue editing other photographs which is incredibly handy and a real time saver.
As they say work smarter and not harder and with batch editing you can certainly do that.
5.- Speed of Editing
In the video above you can see PureRaw 2 edit a 46mp file in 52 seconds and while yes that’s still nearly one minute of editing time it worked out a lot faster than Topaz Photo AI which took me 2 minutes and 16 seconds for exactly thew same photo and the results were still not as good.
Bonus Tip Colour Accuracy.
Again form the video above you can see that the edited file from PureRaw 2 came back with the same colour temperature as it was exported with, whereas the Topaz Photo AI version it came back looking a slight colour temperature shift.
I hope this helped you don’t forget to check out the other reviews and the video above.
See you out there,
Kieran.
